Indy's Treasures

We had a fabulous mini-vacation to Indianapolis, taking in as many of the area treasures as we could cram into 24 hours. There were so many fun experiences, it was hard to narrow down the pictures, but here are some of the highlights.

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is home to one of the largest glass towers by artist Dale Chihuly. The tower was impressive - but even more fun was putting together "glass" pieces to make our own colorful masterpiece. Our little artist preferred the green pieces.

We decided to catch a ride on a locomotive...INSIDE our hotel! The Crown Plaza in Indy is housed in the country's first Union Station and is home to 26 full size train cars that have been converted to rooms. We had fun climbing on and off.

Our final major stop of our whirlwind tour was north of Indy at Conner Prairie. Home to several historical villages taking us from the 1750's all the way to 1886. We talked to the potter, the doctor, the blacksmith and the manager of the general store to understand more about their life and times. Papa and the boy got a lesson on playing stick and hoop.
