These are a few photos from my travels today. Question: What's the structure in the first photo used for?

Spot metering and posing

The first photo looks like he was posing. We all know he doesn't sit still for that long. It was just plain luck. The second was taken using spot metering. I metered the light from the side nearer the window and that changed the exposure enough for the second image.

B/W Peekaboo

For those of you playing along at home, you may enjoy these black and white photos of the little one from earlier today. He was playing peekaboo by hiding his face behind the toy and then jumping up with great excitement. They're in black and white just to be different.

Last photo for a while

The camera was mailed yesterday off to a service center in NJ to get fixed. I expect it'll cost about $200 to repair the shutter cage. In the meanwhile, this is the last photo for a while.
