Whose toy is it?

For those of you keeping score at home, another tooth has come in since this last photo. We were just a little slow posting it onto the blog.

Cousins

Here's a photo of two cousin's in the same place but a generation apart.

Nicknames

Here are a couple of campaign signs that I found. The interesting thing is that each of the candidates has a nickname. So, the question is, are you voting for "Bubby" or "Jaybird"?

Watching Elmo

The little one has discovered the world of Sesame Street. The strange thing is that it hasn't changed much from when we were kids. Here is a photo of Elmo's two newest fans.

Holy Sign Batman!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this church sign!

Motion Blur

I haven't been able to capture a photo of the little one with motion blurring behind him just yet. I'm working on it though. Also, he's getting closer and closer to crawling. He can get up on all four's now but he hasn't yet figured out how to take those first two steps.

Photos and white balance lesson

This is the original photo

This is the photo after I color-corrected it due to an incorrect white balance.

This photo was converted to grayscale and then cropped so that his eyes would be in the upper left corner. This follows the "rule of thirds" theory about photography.

And this photo was simply converted to grayscale.

Because the white balance wasn't 100% correct, the photo was changed to black and white. EDUCATION: A digital camera uses white balance to determine what is "white" under that lighting condition. The next time you're under flourescent bulbs, look around and see if some appear yellow and others appear blue. That's because they have a different light temperature - the blue ones are "daylight" and the yellow "cool white". The camera converts all the light in the image according to the color temperature. If you perform a custom white balance, than that, in theory, takes all the different temperatures of light falling on your subject and balances them out so that your colors are correct.

Anyway, let me know what you think of both the grayscale images and the cropping.

What do you think?

These are a couple of experimental photos. Do you like one over the other? If so, why?

What's that in front of your face?

Does this look like anyone you know?
